Delhi HC seeks police inquiry on Islamist website
22.2.2012 (UNI) Delhi High Court today directed Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta to file a status report on a PIL seeking a ban on an Islamist website as it was allegedly propagating communal hatred in India.
A bench comprising Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahay Endlaw directed the Police Chief to submit its report regarding the website www.shariah4hind.com within a week.
A PIL was filed by Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, president of Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, alleging that the extreme islamic groups were planning to organise a huge rally in Delhi to propagate Islamisation of the Indian sub-continent on March 3. They wanted enforcement of Shariah law all over India to propagate communal clashes and disruption of public peace and order here, the petitioner alleged.
The petitioner sought a detailed inquiry into the claims of the organisation Shariah4Hind, said to be an extreme Islamic group.
The petitioner said the police should take adequate measures for safety of the people.
He also demanded a ban on the organisation and its website as it was working against the sovereignty and integrity of India. UNI
