Rajasthan HC disposes of habeas corpus about ANM Bhanwari Devi
3.3.2012 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court today disposed of habeas corpus filed before it for production of auxiliary nurse midwife(ANM) Bhanwari Devi.
Disposing the petition filed by the nurse's husband Amarchand a division bench comprising Justices Gobind Mathur and NK Jain today held that since the CBI had held that she had been killed and already filed charge-sheet under section 302 of IPC against the accused in her case, it is meaningless to maintain this habeas corpus.
However, the court had cautioned the police and CBI to be more sensitive and responsive in cases of this nature.
The habeas corpus was filed by Bhanwari Devi's husband Amarchand in September last year and now he himself is accused in the conspiracy of her murder and presently is behind the bars.
Meanwhile, the state government has assured the court that it was taking due steps to shift sacked Minister Mahipal Maderna and MLA Malkhan Singh from Jodhpur jail to some other suitable prison for security reasons. Maderna and Malkhan have been made prime accused-conspirators in the case of abduction and killing of the nurse and presently are jailed along-with 11 other accused. UNI
